A quick rant

Okay, first off, I'm not sure I can post the tutorial for my DD's dress. My thumb drive has gone missing and it had all the pics I needed. Will keep you updated.

Now, for the rant. --- Why can't my Hubby find value in what I do? On a good day he approaches resigned acceptance of my crafting, on a bad day he's pissy that I'm wasting time that he feels should be spent in "more important" endeavors such as cleaning the house. He really doesn't get the way my mind works, does he? Aside from that, the crafting I've been wasting my time on lately is Birthday presents for the DD. I have a couple I picked up on clearance/sale/coupons over the year and squirreled into the closet, but there isn't many this year, and Yule isn't really that far from September. I would like to have nice things for the DD, and if that means I have to work like crazy to the determent of the housework, so be it. Grrrrrr. Of course, I also have to plan and execute her TMNT birthday party - on about $20. That's gonna take some work. After that, it's Halloween Costumes for the three of us (my rule, we all dress up together, Hubby hates this one) and then there's Christmas/Yule. You've seen my list. I don't think I added the things for Hubby's friends and their families I'll be expected to provide. Did I mention it's looking like 25 to 30 people for her Bday party, like 11 of those are kids - can you say birthday favors? And foamie Masks of TMNT and shells (thinking sandwich board style) for all of them. Grrrrrrrr. I would love a bit of appreciation for the things I do. It's not like I forget to get TP or something. So the house is messy - I'd rather have it clean too, but I have to take care of an almost 4 yr old all day as well. Okay, I think my rant is finished.

Child's dress

We finally got around to getting family photos. The last time we did, my DD was 2 weeks old, she turns 4 in Sept. Anyway, a day or two before it dawned on me that wardrobe would be a factor. With that in mind, and going from the only nice shirt Hubby has that he likes is black, I found a black shirt and jeans I have, but that left my dd. I had bought a skirt in my size at the thrift store, but I hated the way it fit. it added a bit of a pouchy tummy to me, but the fabric was amazing so I bought it figuring it would make a dress for the Moo. It's pink and black plaid - perfect with the black shirts, right? So I turned it into a dress with only two cuts, and minimum sewing plus straps. and10 grommets, one of the prettiest dresses she's ever owned. I'll try and get a tutorial up here soon.

Welcome

Welcome to my new blog! I love to craft, doesn't even seem to matter which craft, I love them all. I wanted a place to post the things I make as well as some of my patterns I come up with. Keep an eye out, I'll try to be adding some wonderful things soon! The winter holidays are coming up fast (little more than 4 months) and I have a HUGE family. My goal this year is to make 98% or better of all of my gifts minus the Hubby and Kiddo, though each gets at least one I make. I usually make quite a few, but I want to see just how well I can do towards that goal. Should be fun.
